Accessibility Statement

Short Statured People of Australia (SSPA) wants everyone to be able to use this website, regardless of ability or technology. This statement covers https://wdg2027.com. Our benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA and the European standard EN 301 549.

This statement is made by Short Statured People of Australia (SSPA). The website runs on the supodo platform, which provides its technology and design templates.

Conformance status

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The barriers listed below are known.

What is accessible

  • Every page can be used with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a link that skips straight to the main content.
  • Pages state their language, are structured with headings and landmarks, and give images a text alternative where the editors have provided one.
  • Every page template and content block of the platform is tested automatically with axe against WCAG 2.2 Level AA before it is released.

Non-accessible content

The following content is not yet accessible:

  • Contact page: the turquoise e-mail address in the contact details has a contrast ratio of 1.93:1 on the white background, where at least 4.5:1 is required. The colour is kept to match the original wdg2027.com website. (WCAG 1.4.3)
  • Home page, countdown to the opening ceremony: the numbers change every second, start by themselves and cannot be paused, stopped or hidden. The constant movement can make it hard to concentrate on the rest of the page. (WCAG 2.2.2)
  • Home page, official film of the 2023 World Dwarf Games: the video has no captions, so its soundtrack is not available to people who cannot hear it. (WCAG 1.2.2)

Not yet tested

  • A complete pass with screen readers.
  • Documents (such as PDF files) and videos that the editors publish.
  • Zoom to 400 percent on every page.

How we tested

This statement is based on a self-assessment: automated tests with axe on every page template, and manual checks with the keyboard.

What we are doing next

We review the known barriers with every release of the platform and remove them as far as we can.
